Song of DanieL was written for a concert on 10 September 2014 celebrating the 50th birthday of my friend and former student the Slovakian composer Daniel Matej. The upper case L indicates the age he had attained in Roman numerals.

The piece was realized by my software FOTOSCOR, also used for other scores (as e.g. Tischgeistwalzer – q.v.) made to commemorate friends' birthdays. However, as an exception to most others, this score was intended for performance. To counter the monotony of the repeated G F E D patterns, the right hand was scored for the black keys and the left hand for white keys. Also, not all 22 staves must be played, but at least eight of them.
